As PackitUp continues to grow, so does the world-round passion for travel. We recently hit 6000 travelers in our app (!) and we are excited to be able to help more and more people find their ideal travel buddies, regardless of where they are in the world.
In today’s post, we take a look at the current state of the travel and tourism market and how the modern traveler is creating a need for innovative technology.
Depending on where your destination is, you will inevitably find several different types of travelers in any popular city or travel destination. You have the typical student traveler, the business traveler, the backpacker, and of course there is the inevitable flok of tourists that seem to be everywhere these days, just to name a few. According to the 2018 Travel and Hospitality Industry Outlook by Deloitte, the travel and tourism industry accounts for more than 1/10 of the global GDP and is now one of the fastest growing industries in the world. And like always - when the market grows, the technology follows.
The passion for traveling is especially growing among younger generations and every year more and more people team up with friends to travel the world during a sabbatical or a semester abroad. However, finding someone who wants to see the exact same things as you can be a challenge and friends often end up compromising on what to see while on the road. While the amount of travelers continues to grow, we see a growing need for a way to meet other travelers who are looking to see the same things as you are. With a platform just for travelers, we can bring the focus to the destination rather than the people and make it easier to plan travels with new friends or even just meet up with likeminded people during your already planned trip.
As always with social networks, the more people who join the more useful they become. If you haven’t already checked out PackitUp we highly recommend taking a look at our website or simply downloading the app to see for yourself what all the fuzz is about. We can also reveal that you will soon be able to check out the app in a web-version and see the exciting trips without even having to log in - stay tuned to find out more about that!
